New anxiety in your 40s — heart racing for no reason, dread at 3 AM, low stress tolerance — is almost always hormonal. Progesterone, estradiol and thyroid all modulate mood circuitry.

Why hormones drive anxiety

Progesterone metabolites act on the same GABA receptors as benzodiazepines. Estradiol modulates serotonin. Thyroid swings mimic anxiety perfectly. When these change, mood changes — even without a 'reason.'

What we do

Oral progesterone at night, estradiol if estrogen is low, thyroid optimisation, B-vitamin support, magnesium glycinate, adrenal support, and IV NAD+ for severe cases. SSRIs only when truly indicated.

+Will hormones replace my anxiety medication?
